Orch OR. What is Consciousness?

This video summarizes Orch OR theory by Roget Penrose and Stuart Hameroff.

According to Orch OR, consciousness consists of self-organized ‘ripples’ in the fine-scale structure of the universe. These ripples collapse, or undergo objective reduction, and are staged into the full experience of reality by our brains. Biologically these quantum processes happen in microtubules. Metaphorically, it can be thought of as a self-organizing orchestra.

So far scientists have failed to find experimental evidence for this theory, however, this is the strongest theoretical explanation for consciousness that modern science has to offer.
